PROFESSOR CARL CHINN, MBE A 2008 message from our patron "In a world that is increasingly obsessed with the future and in which the past is abandoned to the detriment of all in society, the campaign for St John's Church, Kates Hill calls out to us to stop and think of the need to bond the past with the present and the future and to ensure that our historic buildings have a worthwhile place today and tomorrow." PROFESSOR CHINN IS CURRENTLY SUPPORTING OUR CAMPAIGN FOR VOLUNTEER HELPERS TO COME FORWARD TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE GROUP Professor Chinn “I am keen for people to come forward because the more volunteers who become active the stronger the message is that St John's should be saved and brought back into use for the community. This vital element in Dudley's history must be saved and can only be saved if people act."

925 FOUNDER MEMBERS ACTIVE RECRUITMENT WILL START AGAIN WHEN THE WEATHER GETS WARMER (Oct 2007). STREET PLANS AND EVENTS NOW BEING PLANNED. (April 2008) (POSTERS NOW GOING OUT PLEASE GET IN TOUCH IF YOU CAN PUT ONE IN YOUR CAR OR WINDOW) St John's Church Preservation Group was formed following a 795 name petition by local people determined to save St John’s church. All supporters joining the group during the first twelve months will be classed as FOUNDER MEMBERS a fact which will be important as history unfolds and will be an inspiration to the children and grandchildren who will follow us in keeping this beautiful historic church alive.
St John’s Church was opened in 1840 and was a focal point of the community until it’s closure in 2002.
It is NOT TRUE that the building is beyond repair, in fact it is 'capable of straightforward repair' , English Heritage report, 2007. We will continue to fight for the many people who want to see St John's re-opened.
We await the results of a THIRD survey which was carried out in January and is currently with the Diocese. We have known since January what we think it should say.
